Richard Wimmer

Richard Wimmer is the deputy general manager of administration for both the Southern Nevada Water Authority and the Las Vegas Valley Water District, which serves most of the Las Vegas Valley.

Dick joined the Las Vegas Valley Water District in 1985 and has been deputy general manager since 1989.

The departments for which he is responsible include Finance, Information Systems, Human Resources, Support Services, Energy Management, and Public Services, as well as the Las Vegas Springs Preserve, a cultural and educational community resource being created through a public/private partnership.

He is a member of the American Water Works Association, Colorado River Water Users Association, Nevada Water Resources Association, and the Government Finance Officers Association. He is on the Public Administration Advisory Board for the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the executive committee of the Urban Land Institute/Las Vegas, a board member of the Silver State Energy Association, and he is a trustee for the Outside Las Vegas Foundation. Actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America for years, he is a scoutmaster and serves as the Program Vice President of the Las Vegas Area Council.

A Utah State University graduate, Dick has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1971. He and his wife, Kathy, have four children and three grandchildren. He is also an avid cyclist and hiker.
