SNWA earns Organization of the Year Award

The International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) named the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) the 2008 Organization of the Year.

The IAP2 presents the award annually to organizations that exemplify the spirit and purpose of public participation. The SNWA was honored for its ongoing commitment to engaging the community in policy decisions through its numerous citizens advisory committees including:

• Advisory Committee for Groundwater Management (1997-present)
• Integrated Water Planning Advisory Committee (2004-2005)
• Youth Advisory Council (1999-present)

"The SNWA's commitment to public involvement has led to broad community support for infrastructure improvements, water quality advancements and record conservation achievements," said Management Services Manager Andy Belanger. "Better decisions are made when the public is invited to participate."
