Summertime Blue
Eremophila X 'Summertime Blue'
Eremophila comes from the Greek eremos (desert) and phileo (to love) so this desert loving plant is a natural to our climate. Eremophila belongs to a large genus of over 200 species, all endemic to Australia. This hybrid was developed by Mountain States Wholesale Nursery in Arizona over ten years ago. Lilac-blue flowers appear in early spring continuing into fall and show nicely against the light green foliage. Water regularly until established, the plant will then do well on a low water schedule. Summertime Blue will take heavy pruning or neglect, this is a nice size plant that does well in the desert and deserves to be used more in the landscape.
