Red Push Pistache
Pistacia x 'Red Push'
Qualifies for Tree Enhancement Program
Climate Resiliency 4 out of 5 starsA hybrid between P. atlantica and P. intergerrima. This deciduous tree has an upright growth habit while young, becoming rounded to broad in maturity. The compound leaflets tend to be a darker green and more leathery then the Chinese Pistache (P. chinensis) and new spring growth starts out a coppery-red, hence the name 'Red Push'. This non-fruiting cultivar produces clusters of small greenish flowers in spring. Attractive fall color in shades of yellow, orange, and red. While generally not picky about soil, this tree does prefer good drainage. Needs deep infrequent water once established.
