Bull Grass
Muhlenbergia emersleyi 'El Toro'
Southwestern native. Clumping ornamental grass. Rounded, mounding habit. Green to blue-green foliage, slightly wider than most Muhlys. Loose, purple-pink plumes rise on stalks over the foliage. Plumes turn cream to tan as seeds mature. For best look cut down to around 3 to 5 inches above the ground in late winter or early spring. May brown out in summer if given insufficient water.
