Very well armed plant that has strong marginal teeth and sharp terminal spine, keep away from heavy traffic areas. Tolerates cold very well but needs afternoon or filtered shade. A good container plant, it accepts poor soil and drought, but requires excellent drainage. Blooms only when the plant is 20 years or older.
