Blue Grama Grass, Mosquito Grass
Bouteloua gracilis

Small ornamental bunch grass with delicate gray-green to blue-green foliage. Decorative cream to purple-red flowerheads stand above the foliage, turning into golden-tan seedheads. Foliage turns tan in the winter. Seeds attract birds. May reseed in the landscape. Cut down to 2-3 inches from the ground in late winter to allow fresh growth. Good choice for borders, rock gardens, or meadows.
