Open, angular shape when young. Fills-in and takes on a more regular, pyramidal to broadly flat-topped shape in maturity. Clusters of very short, blue-green to silvery blue-gray needles. Blooms sporadically (not necessarily every year). Male catkins produce large amounts of pollen. Deep rooted and fairly drought tolerant once established. Needs regular water. Prefers acidic soils; will accept lightly alkaline soil, but not as healthy.
