A great collector plant, many different hybrids offered by mail order and easy to grow. Water regularly in summer, provide good drainage and very porous soil, keep rather dry in winter. In hot desert climates afternoon shade will greatly contribute to plant health. Several outstanding cultivars are 'Edwardian Lady', 'Los Angeles', and many other named cultivars. They are very variable and range from small globular species to large branching columnars. All are known for large trumpet shaped flowers in a profusion of colors.
