Coolibah
Eucalyptus microtheca

Qualifies for Tree Enhancement Program

Climate Resiliency 4 out of 5 stars

An upright-growing, often irregularly-shaped tree. The 4 to 8 inch long, lance-shape, dull green to blue-green foliage gives it a weeping appearance. Strongly aromatic. Small cream-colored flowers and woody seed capsules are unremarkable. Has an attractive rough trunk; creamy, flaky with a few rough patches of loose brown bark. Featured in the song, Waltzing Matilda, it produces one of the hardest and strongest timbers in the world. Not generally susceptible to wind breakage, which is good with our occasionally intense winds. More cold hardy then some other Eucalyptus trees. Responds well to pruning. May become chlorotic in our heavy soils or if chronically overwatered. The cultivar 'Blue Ghost' has silvery blue foliage.
