Lavender Boothill, Boothill Eupatorium, Gregg's Mistflower
Conoclinium greggii 'Boothill'

An attractive perennial groundcover with delicate, finely-cut, light green leaves. The clusters of fluffy, lavender-blue to lavender-pink flowers that appear on the branch tips are very appealing to butterflies. May have an upright to trailing appearance depending on the amount of sun and water it gets. Does best with filtered shade or morning sun and afternoon shade. The sun to shade factor is important with this plant--too much sun and it requires much more water to look acceptable, but too much shade reduces the flower display. Does not like being overwatered, but will need some additional water during the summers in our area to keep blooming. Spreads by underground stems. May take a hit in our colder winters, but comes back from the roots. Prune back heavily in late winter to remove any damage and renew the plant. Does well under desert and semi-desert trees.
