Southwestern native. Woody perennial. Upright, rounded, mounding to arching habit. Gray-green to silver-gray, wrinkled, downy, 1 to 2 inch long, elliptical to lance-shaped leaves. Aromatic. Whorls of small lavender to blue-violet trumpet flowers appear at intervals along the upper section of the stems. Attracts bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies. Trim off spent flower stalks to encourage continued blooming. Trim off seed heads and prune for form in late winter or early spring. Member of the mint family.
