Broadleaf evergreen. Shrub or can be trained into a small tree. Often used for hedges. Leaves start out glossy with bright green to bronze color and red margins. Mature to a slightly glossy medium green to yellow-green with pale veining. Salt sensitive and will get leaf tip necrosis in alkaline soils. May become chlorotic in heavily alkaline or poorly drained soils. Somewhat susceptible to Texas Root Rot.
