Upright, woody, multi-stemmed perennial shrub. Smooth, deeply-lobed, grey-green to blue-green leaves. Large flowers-up to 9 inches across. Delicate crinkly petals around a bright yellow center. Lightly fragrant. Attracts hummingbirds and bees. Interesting oblong seedpods. May act winter deciduous. Treat as a perennial and cut back in late fall or winter. Spreads by rhizomes. Potentially invasive. Well drained soil is especially important with our alkaline soils. Does not transplant well once established.
