Aleppo Pine, Mediterranean Pine, Jerusalem Pine
Pinus halepensis
Climate Resiliency
2 out of 5 stars
Pyramidal shape when young. A rounded, open, and irregular shape when mature. Needles are medium green to yellow-green and 2-4 inches long. Needle drop can be cleaned up or left in place to mulch the soil. Requires minimal pruning. Remove lower limbs to raise the canopy if desired, but only one to two limbs per year. Pines will often drop lower limbs on their own as they mature. Good desert pine. Susceptible to Aleppo Pine Blight. Younger trees are damaged more easily by cold.
