Alkali Sacaton Grass
Sporobolus airoides
This is a very ornamental grass and can be used in place of Deer grass or Miscanthus. Use it to soften the landscape or edges of buildings. Use it as texture or a background to flowering plants. A warm-season, perennial grass growing in large, tough bunches... Does best in areas with 12 to 18 inches of annual precipitation or equivalent. Seed heads provide forage for many bird species.
