Pinto Beardtongue, Yellow Two-Tone Penstemon
Penstemon bicolor
Colorful, tall penstemons are a showy wildflower. Cluster them for impact. Place them among other xeric shrubs, cacti and agaves for contrast in color, texture and vertical form. Use them in a rock garden. Well drained soils, limestone or igneous bedrock. In Nevada, found on rocky calcareous, granitic, or volcanic soils. NOTE: Meets criteria for sensitive species designation by the Bureau of Land Management (particularly the yellow form) Please, no collection of seeds or individuals from public lands.
